BANNER INTERNO

Welcome

The Joint European Magnetic Symposia (JEMS) is the most important and comprehensive conference on Magnetism in Europe. JEMS2023 will take place from 27th August to 1st September 2023 at the Faculty of Medicine in the main campus of Universidad Complutense de Madrid. The campus is located at a privileged site nearby Madrid city center. IMDEA Nanoscience will be the organizing institution supported by Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

JEMS focuses on a broad range of topics embracing applicative and fundamental aspects of Magnetism, as well as novel magnetic materials: from the development of magnetic materials for energy applications to materials for information storage and sensing technologies, biomagnetism and biomedical applications, magnetism for quantum technology, magnonics, spintronics… JEMS attempts to cover all areas of Magnetism offering an ideal scenario to share the latest advances done worldwide in research and innovation.

JEMS2023-Madrid will follow the outstanding organization scheme of symposia from previous editions (Warsaw 2022, Lisbon 2020, Uppsala 2019…) by providing the opportunity to enjoy Plenary and Semiplenary lectures by international experts on very different areas. Presentations by invited speakers at each symposium and oral and poster contributions will complete an exciting scientific programme.

The conference will follow a hybrid format and, in order to promote a fruitful and enjoyable on-site interaction between the participants, Plenary, Semiplenary and Invited lecturers will all attend in person to allow for further and exciting discussions at the coffee breaks and poster sessions & beverages. Lunch will be provided at the venue and included as part of the registration fee to ease the networking among all attendees. JEMS2023 will provide a platform to discuss on the importance of Magnetism to contribute to solve urgent technological, economic and social challenges. With this purpose, JEMS2023 will include a roundtable with participation of international panelists from academia, industry and representatives of key agencies to address the “The Role of Magnetism in the Green & Digital Transition”

The importance of Spain in the development of Magnetism has been and is nowadays of significance through the research and educational labor carried out by a large magnetic family spread along our geography and actively working on many different disciplines, always in close collaboration with many international groups from all around the globe. JEMS2023 will give us the opportunity of welcoming you all in Madrid and share some great moments with you. There is in Madrid, in Puerta del Sol, a stone reading “Km.0” -Kilometer Zero- which indicates a central point for the country’s main connection roads. We would like making of JEMS2023 a central point in 2023 for the magnetic community to discuss on the latest advances in Magnetism, reinforce alliances and create new ones and, importantly, to approach Magnetism to the citizens through the organization of dedicated activities, “Magnetism on the streets”, during the conference.

The Organizing, the Programme and the National Committees of JEMS 2023 are looking forward to welcoming you to Madrid!
